Omg RFID VIRUS!!

This has sent shock waves (literally) to all the computer personals in the Security Field...
Gosh, 3 ppl have found out a method by which a virus can spread to middle ware based app's
using RFID tags...
You know what that means? It means that we can use that for a whole range of malpractice!!
Just to give you the glimpse of it...and its real danger
What if a person uses that RFID tag in an airport to by-pass the scanning of the luggages done there? It can mess with that system and pass through un-detected!
This really really scares me now....

Here is the link to that topic in technews :

http://www.technewsworld.com/rsstory/49394.html

And here is that actual paper that was submitted

http://www.rfidvirus.org/papers/percom.06.pdf

Virus codes have gone to the next level....!! wonder where they will go next?
perhaps some neurological virus or something that will alter the human brain :D
but i dont see that comming for a long long time..the only virus i can think of now is that dreaded bird flu!

Searching the Web-Searcher

March 14 (Bloomberg) -- Google Inc., the most-used Internet search engine, may have to turn over some customer data to help a U.S. government effort to prevent Internet pornography from reaching minors, a federal judge said.
U.S. District Judge James Ware in San Jose, California, today said that Google and the government had agreed in private negotiations to limit the scope of the Justice Department's request. He said he would review the agreement to make sure it wasn't too burdensome on Google.

The two sides ``have traveled a long way'' from the billions of queries the government originally sought, said Nicole Wong, an associate general counsel for Mountain View, California-based Google, after the hearing.
Google has fought the U.S. request as it seeks to assure users that their search records aren't easily accessible by others. Privacy worries may lead some users to avoid using Google, which profits by displaying ads next to search results and earning fees when consumers click on the ads.

The agreement would narrow the U.S. request from more than 1 million Web addresses to 50,000 Web addresses, of which the government would examine 10,000, the judge said. The request would also include 5,000 search queries, of which the government would look at 1,000.
``I am going to grant some relief to the government,'' Ware said, citing the government's reduced data request and that it has agreed to pay Google's engineers for the work required.
`Minimize' Burden
Ware said he needs to study the government's revised data request and must ``shape it in a fashion that minimizes the burden to Google.''

The U.S. had been seeking a week's worth of random search queries and 1 million Web addresses to defend a federal law aimed at preventing access to pornography to minors on the Internet.
The study will be used to support the government's case, pending in federal court in Pennsylvania, that federal legislation may prove more effective in limiting minors' access to pornography on the Internet than filtering software, Department of Justice lawyer Joel McElvain said.

``There's no personal information about the user'' in the government's data request, McElvain said. The data would be maintained as private according to a protective order in the Pennsylvania case, he said.

My Personal Comment on this: I guess doing so would only instill a sense of fear of being Watched all the time, and get the search giants lesser Hit's.
Monitoring the web is ok,but using that information? I dont think it will work out...cause what ever the govt is trying to do..i.e prevent access to prono sites or any other illegal stuff...
I am sure the ppl will find the other way around the problem!!,so its not much a use.
If these software gaints really really want to help of the net culture ?? I think its a wise decision to develop some software like a firewall or a parental search engine like thing.
This parental search can be installed in the system, and when searched can restrict the access of unwanted sites.
well thats just my idea...i would be googling and yahooing for some more time now...

My Photo Updates

Here are 2 pics i took in the last two days...one I call it the Moon Dance, cause the Zig-Zags you see is the Moon :D combined with random len's movement...

The other one I took today.....Has a profound meaning to it,try to think of it ...

Voting! your right! ,but do you vote?

You dont forget to re-charge you cell account, you dont forget to buy the latest A.R Rehaman's music cd's,you dont forget to goto a cinema every-weekend,you dont forget to goto Coffee Day after the cinema! (with or without accompany) :D ,
but most of the young men and women in India,do forget one BIGGGGGG thing,
thier Vote.(Add me in that list too...)

As my idol Mr.Kalam said "India is in the hands of the young" ,what good are those hands when only a little % of them vote?

Now think of the reason, why dont these kids vote? , I am sure every young Indian has a good social awareness and the killer instinct in him/her to make India a better place for all..
My personal eg. Just check out the peps reaction in various social revolutions kinda movies, who do u see enjoying the so called PUNCH dialogues the most...yeah you guessed it..the Young Minds of India.
So with quite a relief i can say "Yeah we are all ignited and ready to take responsibility!"
But we dont ......
why? I figured out no one votes cause no one feels its necessary or the voting trend is not in ease with the youth of today.
If there was a voting booth in my college,I am sure most of the people would have come to vote,
Meaning.....We are kinda lazy to vote...and dont have the right way to access the way we vote.

So I thought over this, how can you attract young ppl and at the same time make them vote ,
which i am sure will have a drastic effect on the results,

Well here are 2 simple plans..
1) Put a voting booth prior to an election and get the list of students to vote there.
2)Make Voting tech savy...
(By this i mean..just like u use your Credit Card to do on-line baking?? or buying someone gifts online..).

so why not Implement Voting Online as well....?
Yeah i know lot of diffculties will arise over this system? but i am sure there is a way to solve it.

(Besides every solution has its own ans,is what i belive.)

When there are electronic voting machines available,I am sure voting online can also become a reality.

Maybe one easy method would be to use the Passport Number+(some authentication procedures) , I am sure every tech savy youth of India would have gotten a passport...so we can use that number as an login and then he can vote once.

Lets see,I am just thinking on it....
If anyone comes across this and has some Ideas, your most welcome to comment...
